Mill Managers House Restoration
We have obtained planning permission to restore the old mill managers house and give it a new purpose so it can earn its keep. The grade two listed building is from the Regency period (1811-1820) and currently completely derelict. Although the walls, roof and windows are relatively ok structurally, the internal floors, services and decoration all need complete restoration. Fortunately there are still lots of original features such as fireplaces, window shutters, latches and locks, and original doors etc. so we have a great opportunity to bring this building back to how it would have been all those years ago when it was the main residence of the mill manager. It is a BIG job however and we anticipate needing to spend about £70,000. The plan is to restore it to its original specification and decor, but with modern under-floor heating, boiler, electricity, kitchen and bathrooms, and redo the rear garden with a patio. That way we can start using it as an unusual/special overnight accommodation for people who come to the mill for training enabling the building to (over time) help preserve the Mill site.
